Essentials of Rx for Asthma

Credit Hours: 5.0  |   Fee: $110.00

** This course is closed and can be accessed by existing registrants only. **

Pharmacists are in a unique position to help patients with asthma respond to the increasing number and complexity of respiratory delivery devices and the combinations of medication therapies delivered to the lung. Clinical outcomes for patients with asthma are contingent on not only proper inhalation technique, but on the optimal timing, dosing, and adherence to medications. The Essentials of Rx for Asthma (KE-CN#RSP003) course is an asthma education and intervention program designed to improve outcomes in patients visiting the community pharmacy and affected by asthma. The program is evidence-based and interventions are sensitive to the constraints of practice in a busy community pharmacy setting. Pharmacists who complete this training will have access to web-based practice resources to facilitate implementation of these best practices.

This course provides community pharmacists with a toolbox of interventions to assist their patients with asthma that are realistic in the limited time available in retail practice. Essentials of Rx for Asthma (KE-CN#RSP003) is offered asynchronously online through the CIPS Knowledge Enterprise Portal (www.pharmacists4knowledge.org). Prior to beginning this course learners are strongly encouraged to successfully complete the Respiratory Drug Delivery Tools: Effective Use & Safety (KE-CN#RSP001).
